The purpose of space exploration is the understanding of the universe. Science is the poetry of reality. It is so very very important to understand how small of a speck we are in relation to the entirety of the universe. I'll include a picture that will better explain just how numerous the vast number of other galaxies are and how far the universe stretches around us. In this image alone, taken by Hubble, there are around 10,000 or more galaxies.
